Hi everyone,
It has been a hot minute since I have logged onto my blog to share something new and valuable with you. I’m super exited to discuss the topic in today’s post because it pertains to something that so many individuals are looking to enhance – the lips. Personally I am not into lip fillers, so that is why I ventured off into the world of alternatives.
Did you know that there are other ways to enhance your lips in a natural, non-invasive way? If your answer was no, well I’m here you fill you in on the piping hot tea, sis. LipLase (by Fotona) or lip remodelling is a method used to plump lips using laser technology with zero downtime. That’s not the only thing that this laser system does; it can also improve your natural lip colour while helping define whatever area of the lips you are looking to correct. The way it works is a thermal effect, which is caused by the laser pulses, ultimately stimulates collagen production by your body. After a few weeks, you will slowly begin to see results. Keep in mind that results do depend on your body’s ability and speed to produce collagen. If you are ill or stressed, that could slow down the process so just something to keep in mind when booking your appointments. PS – overtime with age we lose about 1% of our collagen per year! This is why it’s important to stay on top of your diet/supplements, skincare/treatments, managing stress, and protecting your skin from the sun.
- Fuller lips
- Stimulates collagen remodeling
- Initiates new collagen synthesis
- No needles, no downtime
- Smooths out pesky lines surrounding lips
After doing my own research on LipLase, I decided to go to OVO Medi Spa in Vancouver, BC for my treatments. I was very curious to see how effective LipLase is and what it can do for me. My main target goals were to add more fullness to my upper lips and even out both sides to align nicely with my cupid’s bow. I had a total of 3 sessions for the purpose of my research as that is generally the total amount required, ideally 4 weeks apart. They were kind enough to include an additional 4th treatment at my last follow-up appointment!

In terms of the pain, I would say it is a 2/10. I do have a high pain tolerance, but I have had a number of other laser treatments in that past and this one doesn’t even compare. It is also a very quick session – about 5 minutes. If you are wondering if you can get LipLase after getting filler, the answer is yes! You just have to wait at least 4 weeks after the date you received filler to get this treatment done. You will also be happy to know that this particular treatment is less expensive compared to filler if you are looking to get more than 1 syringe. Every clinic will have slightly different pricing, but on average, 3 sessions cost $750 total.
As you can see from the below before/after images, there is an improvement in the overall volume of my lips, particularly my tops lips. In addition, the colour is brighter and the top left side is more evened out to balance my lips as a whole. The amazing thing about LipLase is that results improve over those 3-6 months (up to 12 months) because of your body’s collagen production.

I would definitely recommend LipLase to anyone who is either looking for an alternative to lip filler or simply prefers a more natural option to enhance lips. If you have any questions about this treatment, feel free to reach out! Wishing you all the best in your self-care journey.
